Lockdown 5.0 In India : Lockdown 5.0 Date : June 01, 2020

Lockdown 5.0 In India : 'Next 15 days is very important', Uddhav's statement increases lockdown 5.0 after 31 May. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, here on Sunday, hinted at further extension of the lockdown after May 31 and proposed restrictions on plans to resume domestic flights from May 25 as the Covid-19 situation could worsen after the onset of monsoon. Thackeray said it was not proper to impose the lockdown suddenly and now it couldn't be lifted abruptly as it would be detrimental to the people.

Addressing the state, Thackeray said it was not proper to impose the lockdown suddenly and now it couldn't be lifted abruptly as it would be detrimental to the people. "We will have to study the situation carefully before moving ahead. The coming weeks are critical as the spread of coronavirus is increasing. People must exercise extreme precautions during monsoon," Thackeray said.

"The Chief Minister has communicated that till Mumbai International Airport plans and finetunes airport operations, they (Centre) should initiate minimum possible domestic flights from Maharashtra from Monday.

Delhi Joint Commissioner of Police (JCP) Devesh Srivastava, on India TV's Zila Sammelan, said that the governmnt will take a call on the rules and regulations that will be applicable in lockdown 5.0. "We are responsible for the implementation of the rules and regulations, the government will take a call on whatever the rules and regulations need to be put in place after lockdown 4.0 ends," Srivastava said.

Anand Mahindra on Lockdown Extension

Anand Mahindra, the chairman of Mahindra group has once again reiterated that lockdown extensions are economically disastrous. The industrialist made the remark while reacting to an article on Uddhav Thackeray's conference where the CM said that he can't say lockdown will be over on May 31.

Lockdown 4.0 was extended on May 17 after the number of COVID-19 cases continued to grow.

He also shared and article highlighting the dangerous psychological effects of lockdowns and the huge risk of neglecting non-covid patients.

Stating that the choices aren’t easy for policymakers, Mahindra said, "But a lockdown extension won’t help. The numbers will continue to rise and the focus must be on a rapid expansion of field hospital beds with oxygen lines. The army has enormous expertise in this."

The number of corona patients has increased to more than 47 thousand in the entire Maharashtra including Mumbai. CM Uddhav Thackeray has once again given such indications that in view of increasing cases in the state, the lockdown period can be extended even after 31 May . Even during his address on Sunday, CM Uddhav has said that it was not a right decision to put a lockdown in Maharashtra, nor would it be right to remove it suddenly. CM Uddhav also said that the next 15 days are very important in Maharashtra. In such a situation, after seeing both these statements and political signals of Uddhav, it is believed that the lockdown will continue in Maharashtra even after May 31.

Signs and Symptoms of COVID 19

Although those infected with the virus may be asymptomatic, many develop flu-like symptoms including fever, cough, and shortness of breath. Emergency symptoms including difficulty breathing, persistent chest pain or pressure, confusion, difficulty waking, and bluish face or lips; immediate medical attention is advised if these symptoms are present. Less commonly, upper respiratory symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, or sore throat may be seen. Symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea are seen in a minority of cases, and some of the initial cases in China presented with only chest tightness and palpitations. In some, the disease may progress to pneumonia, multi-organ failure, and death.

As is common with infections, there is a delay from when a person is infected with the virus to when they develop symptoms, known as the incubation period. The incubation period for COVID-19 is typically five to six days but may range from two to fourteen days

Social Distancing is a non-pharmaceutical infection prevention and control intervention implemented to avoid/decrease contact between those who are infected with a disease causing pathogen and those who are not, so as to stop or slow down the rate and extent of disease transmission in a community. This eventually leads to decrease in spread, morbidity and mortality due to the disease. In addition to the proposed interventions, the State/UT Governments may prescribe such other measures as they consider necessary.
