Abstract

This project is developed for the users to control the operation of a stepper motor using Blue tooth technology.

In a DC motor, there are two terminals called positive and negative. If voltage is given to DC motor, the motor runs in a particular direction and if the polarities are reversed, the motor runs in opposite direction. But in this project we use a stepper motor having 5(1+4) terminals.

The stepper motor can be operated by applying negative pulse to the four pins while the center pin is common positive. The speed and the direction of the motor can be controlled by changing the frequency of the pulse and direction of the pulse.

The Blue tooth kit is connected with the USB port of the Computer. When the user sends message through Cellphone(Blue tooth), the blue tooth kit receives the signal and sends to the computer. The PC receives the signal and sends corresponding signal through serial port. The microcontroller circuit is connected with the serial port through RS 232.

The suitable positive pulses are generated using the microcontroller. The positive pulses are given to a not gate driver IC ULN2003, which gives negative voltage which is suitable to the stepper motor.

The user can control the speed as well as direction of the stepper motor.

The microcontroller program is written in assembly language. The microcontroller used is PIC 16F73
