In this way, the S10e (‘e’ for ‘essential’) is a lot like the Apple iPhone XR, and it’s hard not to see Samsung’s as the ‘budget flagship’ of the iPhone XS line: both pack the best parts of their generation in a phone that’s not quite as svelte or feature-rich as their pricier siblings.
There are compromises for that lower cost, of course. The S10e doesn’t get some of some of the neat features in its pricier siblings, like an in-screen fingerprint sensor, curved screen sides or a telephoto lens. These sorts of features will undoubtedly show up in more handsets in 2019, so it’ll be curious to see if their exclusion gives you flagship phone envy
But we doubt you’ll be too jealous. The Galaxy S10e is a lovely one-hand-friendly phone that with top-of-the-line specs to match. Its 5.8-inch all-screen display is easy to hold and its chipset is fast enough that it’ll compete with other flagships for years to come, even if its compromises in display resolution and camera fall short of the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus.
Received my phone in the morning today. Pretty happy with the way it has behaved since. A few pointers.
1. The phone got ridiculously hot initially. The battery was also draining like crazy at that time. I then realised that I had forgotten to remove the plastic around the sides of the phone. Things got a lot better after I removed it. But I am still seeing a considerable battery drain.
2. The front camera goes into overdrive in order to make you beautiful. While there may be a few people who like it, I for one think that it completely spoils a photo. I hope Samsung improves this in future software updates.
That's it! Everything else about this phone is top notch! I love the display, back cameras (both lenses), and overall ergonomics of this device. It's probably half an inch taller than iPhone 6,but it's oh so better looking! Even the UI has improved drastically since my S7 edge days.
I'll post an update regarding the batter life after a week. Devices do usually tend to drain battery initially when the owner is over enthusiastic and the phone is still learning the usage patterns.
Update 1 (after using for two weeks):
Battery life: The battery drain issue has almost completely gone away. I'm consistently getting over 5 hours of screen on time throughout the day. A few settings had to be tweaked, but I reckon it was more about the phone learning my habits and adapting accordingly.
Cameras: I got a software update that significantly improved the quality of front camera. With the rear cameras already brilliant, I am now satisfied with the overall camera performance. Be informed that the picture quality under low light settings is still not as terrific as that from the Pixel 3. The photos are very very good, but not as good s those from Pixel 3.
Other observations: OneUI is absolutely amazing. I've used multiple OnePlus devices, S7 Edge, and Google phones in the past, but this is the most practical implementation of android out there. Also, it give you to option to experiment with tonnes of customizations.
This should be your next phone.

The Galaxy S10e doesn't skimp on build quality and includes the same Infinity-O design as the pricier models. Those hoping to shoot Live Focus photographs might be a little miffed by the dual rear-mounted camera, which includes the ultra-wide shots of the S10 and S10 Plus – but ditches bokeh-packed portraits.
Samsung Galaxy S10e is a great smartphone and will be a solid upgrade for anyone carrying a Galaxy S8 or older. However, those who already own a Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus should probably look to the pricier models in the S10 line-up.
