These two sync pairs make their debut as Team Rocket threatens Pasio in the Looming Shadow of Kanto villain event.
Big trouble is coming to Pasio, and it begins with the return of Team Rocket. From September 15, 2021, at 11:00 p.m. PDT to October 15, 2021, at 10:59 p.m. PDT, Pokémon Masters EX sees the nefarious team resuming its operations in the Looming Shadow of Kanto villain event. By completing the event’s various battles, you’ll earn gems, 3★ Support Move Candy, and 4★ Strike Move Candy. Be warned, though—this looming shadow may just be a prelude to other upcoming villain events.

A couple new sync pairs are making their debut during this event as well. These Kanto-region characters will make valuable additions to your team:

In addition to the Looming Shadow of Kanto, there’s a pair of other events happening around the same time. More Team Rocket shenanigans are going down in the Team Rocket Takedown Extreme Battle Event, which runs from September 17, 2021, at 11:00 p.m. PDT to October 29, 2021, at 10:59 p.m. PDT. This event features two extremely difficult battles against Giovanni and Team Rocket, and you’ll earn gems for completing it.
There’s also a Ghost-Type Gear Event from September 22, 2021, at 11:00 p.m. PDT to September 29, 2021, at 10:59 p.m. PDT. Take part in this co-op only event to earn 3★ Ghost-type gear.

Classic Legendary Events
Finally, a pair of events focusing on Legendary Pokémon are returning to the game for a short time. Team Rocket’s boss, Giovanni, and his sync pair partner, Mewtwo, are the stars of the Lurking Shadow legendary event, which you can experience again from September 15, 2021, at 11:00 p.m. PDT to October 15, 2021, at 10:59 p.m. PDT. If you visit the Legendary Arena from September 20, 2021, at 11:00 p.m. PDT to October 4, 2021, at 10:59 p.m. PDT, you’ll see the return of Tornadus.
Shadows may be looming, but that doesn’t mean the action is slowing down on Pasio. And remember, more villainous plans are waiting to be hatched in the future. Prepare yourself!
