Assistant coaches from Florida have been sacked after the squad lost its third straight game

Florida’s coaching staff has been reshuffled after a third straight defeat.

A parting of ways has been announced between the university and defensive coordinator Todd Grantham and offensive line coach John Hevesy. For the past year, both had been on Mullen’s staff at the University of Florida, where he served as an assistant coach.

For the remainder of 2021, Paul Pasqualoni will serve as a special assistant to head coach Christian Robinson and serve as an on-field coach for the linebackers, according a school announcement Monday. As a head coach, Pasqualoni has held positions at Syracuse and Connecticut, among others.

Graduate assistant Michael Sollenne will be in charge of the Florida offensive line for the rest of the season.

It was the final year of Grantham and Hevesy’s contracts at the University of Florida. A year’s salary for Grantham was $1.8 million, while for Hevesy was $620,000.

The state of Florida announced the revisions on Monday, following news stories that surfaced over the weekend.

During Mullen’s nine-year tenure at Starkville, Grantham served as his defensive coordinator for the first time in 2017, while Hevesy remained with Mullen throughout that time (2009-17). They’ve known each other since their days as assistants at Bowling Green (2001-2002), Utah (2003-04), and Florida (1997-1999). They’ve now worked together for 21 years (2005-08).

Florida’s 40-17 loss over South Carolina on Saturday was the team’s first loss below.500 (4-5) since 2017. When Mullen was asked about making changes to the coaching staff following the loss, he said he would wait until the end of the season.

‘It’s something we’ve had to look at,’ Mullen said when asked about the rush defence. “Maybe just, you know, schematically certain things are going on, some missed tackles. ‘” We need to beef up our front end. With our defensive front, we need to be better and more physical at the line of scrimmage and point of attack.
