How to Setup Email on Windows Live Mail Using POP3 and IMAP
- Open Windows Live Mail
- The wizard pops up if it’s the first time using it. Otherwise use these instructions:
- Select Add an email account
- Select Tools and then select Accounts
- Select Add
- Select E-mail Account and then select Next
- Enter the Email Address (including ‘@example.com’). Enter the Password, and enter the Display Name
- Select the ‘Manually configure server settings for email account’ box
- Select Next
- Choose POP3 or IMAP in the ‘My incoming mail server is a ______ server’ field
- Enter pop.example.com or imap.example.com in the ‘Incoming Server:’ field
- Select the ‘This server requires a secure connection (SSL)’ box
- The port will change to 995. (Port numbers will vary with Internet Service Provider)
- Select Clear Text Authentication in the ‘Log on using:’ field
- Enter the full Email Address in lower case (including ‘@example.net’) in the ‘Log in ID:’ field
- Enter smtp.example.com in the ‘Outgoing Server:’ field
- Select the ‘This server requires a secure connection (SSL)’ box
- Enter 465 in the ‘Port:’ field. (Port numbers will vary with Internet Service Provider)
- Select the ‘My outgoing server requires authentication’ box
- Select Next, Finish

If you are unsuccessful, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

8. Select Clear Text in the ‘Authenticate using:’ field
9. Enter the full Email Address in lower case (including ‘@example.net’) in the ‘Log in ID:’ field
10. Enter smtp.example.com in the ‘Outgoing Server address:’ field
11. Select the ‘Requires a secure connection (SSL)’ box. Enter 465 in the ‘Port:’ field. (Port numbers will vary with Internet Service Provider)
12. Select the ‘Requires Authentication’ box, click Next

13. Click Finish
