There are actually two different Recaps this year: the YouTube Music Recap (for songs/artists) and the new YouTube Recap (for gaming, vlogs, and general video history).
Depending on which one you are missing, the reason is likely one of the following.
1. You might just be too early (New “Video” Recap)
If you are looking for the main YouTube Video Recap (the one with your “personality type” and top creators):
It is rolling out right now: This feature started rolling out on December 2–3, 2025.
Regional Rollout: It launched in North America first and is expanding to other regions (like Europe and Asia) throughout this week. If you don’t see the banner in the “You” tab yet, you likely just need to wait 24–48 hours.
2. Check Your History Settings (Most Common Reason)
Neither recap will work if YouTube wasn’t allowed to track your data.
Paused History: If your “Watch History” was paused during the year, you have no data to recap.
Auto-Delete: If you have “Auto-delete activity older than 3 months” turned on, your data from early 2025 is already gone, making you ineligible for the yearly summary.
3. Eligibility Requirements
You must meet these specific numbers to trigger a recap. If you didn’t use the app enough, the button won’t appear.
Music Recap:
Minimum 10 hours of music listening time.
Must have listened between Jan 1 and Nov 10.
Must have at least 5 songs with repeat listens.
Video Recap:
Must have sufficient watch history (roughly 10+ hours of non-music content).
Mostly “Made for Kids” content does not count.

4. Technical Fixes to Force It to Appear
If you know you listened enough, try these steps to “force” the banner to show up:
Update the App: The Recap is a new feature that requires the latest version. Go to the App Store/Play Store and update YouTube.
Search for It:
Music: Open the YouTube Music app, tap your Profile Picture > Your Recap.
Video: Open the main YouTube app, go to the “You” tab (bottom right), and look for the “Get your Recap” banner under your history.
Check “Brand” Accounts: If you use a Brand Account (a channel with a different name than your Google email), Recaps often do not work. Switch to your primary personal Google account to see if it appears there.
Clear Cache (Android): Settings > Apps > YouTube > Storage > Clear Cache.
