Yahoo Mail Temporary Error 15 Fix | Your account is currently out of sync

Temporary Error 15 is Yahoo’s way of saying, “Your account is currently out of sync.” It usually happens when you are logged in on too many devices at once (e.g., phone, tablet, and laptop) or when the browser’s local files (cache) conflict with the server’s current version of your mailbox.

Here is the step-by-step fix to clear it.

1. The “Sign Out Everywhere” Fix (Most Effective)

Since this is a sync error, you need to force all devices to disconnect and “shake hands” with the server again.

  1. Log out of the current computer you are on.

  2. Grab your phone/tablet: Open the Yahoo Mail app or settings and ensure you are not actively trying to sync mail there. If possible, turn off Wi-Fi/Data on your phone for 5 minutes.

  3. Wait 15 Minutes: This is the hard part. You must give the server time to “unlock” the session.

  4. Log back in on ONE device only (preferably your desktop).

2. Clear Browser Cache (If Step 1 Fails)

If the error persists immediately after logging back in, your browser is holding onto a “corrupted” version of the page.

  • Chrome: Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete. Select “Cached images and files” and “Cookies”. Set the time range to “All time”.

  • Safari: Go to Settings > Privacy > Manage Website Data > Remove All.

  • Edge: Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete and clear Cached images and files.

3. Use the OS Specific Fixes

  • Mac Users: This error often happens if you are using the native Apple Mail app (the blue stamp icon) and a web browser at the same time. Close the Apple Mail app completely (Command + Q) and try accessing the website again.

  • Windows Users: If you are using the “Mail” app built into Windows, close it.

4. Is it a “Soft Ban”?

Sometimes Error 15 appears if you have sent too many emails in a short time or refreshed the page too rapidly.

  • The Fix: If you suspect this is the cause, stop trying to access the account for 1 full hour. Continually refreshing the page resets the timer and keeps you locked out longer.

Summary:

The vast majority of users fix this by signing out, clearing cookies, and waiting 15 minutes before logging back in.
