Xfinity Router Login | http://10.0.0.1 : How do I log into my Xfinity xFi router?

To login into Xfinity Router, Open a web browser and go to the Admin Tool at http://10.0.0.1. If you’ve already changed your Admin Tool ID and password, log in with your information.

If you need to change your WiFi network’s name and password, check out the quickest and easiest ways to get it done.

You can also change them manually with our Admin Tool, the Wireless Gateway’s administration site (http://10.0.0.1). Here, you can log into your Wireless Gateway to customize your settings like usernames, passwords, parental controls, and network settings including your firewall and open/closed ports. You can get to the Admin Tool online or through the Xfinity My Account app.

Note: You may also see your network name referred to as an ‘SSID’ and your password as a ‘Network Key.’

I don’t need instructions. Take me directly to the Admin Tool.

Why Should I Change My Network Name and Password?

Setting your own network name and password helps protect your home network from outside users, viruses and other threats. If you leave your wireless network unprotected, other people can use your Internet connection, access files on your computers, and even find out private information like passwords and credit card numbers.

Log in to the Admin Tool

1. With a laptop, phone, or tablet that’s connected to your network, open a web browser and go to the Admin Tool at http://10.0.0.1. If you’ve already changed your Admin Tool ID and password, log in with your information. Then go to the steps to change your network name and password.

Pro tip: This username and password aren’t the same as your WiFi name and password.

If you haven’t changed the username and password, log in with:

    • Username: admin
    • Password: passwordIf you changed your ID or password but don’t remember it, you can do a factory reset.

2. Then, click LOGIN.

Note: Depending on which Gateway you have, your screen might not look exactly like this. However, the steps are the same, so you can still follow along.

3. Once you log in, the page asks you to set up a new ID and password for the Admin Tool. You’ll do this first and change your network name and password after.

4. Click Change Password at the top right.

Change Your WiFi Network Name and Password

Connect your laptop, phone, or tablet directly to your Gateway with hard-wired/Ethernet cable or connect wirelessly to your in-home WiFi network (not the “xfinitywifi” network).

If you haven’t changed your WiFi network name and password before, look for the default network name and password on the label on the side or bottom of your Wireless Gateway:
Network SSID and password on the label on the bottom panel of an XFINITY wireless gateway.

Then, if you want to change it:

1. Log in to the Admin Tool at http://10.0.0.1.

2. Go to the left-hand menu, and pick Gateway, then Connection, and then Wi-Fi.

3. Under Private Wi-Fi Network, you’ll see the Name (SSID) of your WiFi network. Make a note of it.

    • Click Edit on the right to change your network name.
    • The option you see depends on your Gateway model. If you see two network names (one for the 2.4 GHz and one for the 5GHz band), click Edit on each one and enter a new name. (For best results, enter the same name for both.)
      Click EDIT.
    • If you don’t see these options, you may need to change your WiFi network name a different way.

4. To see your network password, check the box next to Show Network Password. Make a note of it.

    • To change your WiFi network information, type in the Network Name and/or Network Password field and click SAVE SETTINGS.
      The Network Password is displayed.

5. All set! Now that you have your WiFi network name and password, you can connect your phone, laptop, tablet, and any other device to your network. You’ll need to sign back into your WiFi network on each device with your new network name and password.

  1. Unplug your Gateway’s power.
  2. Press and hold the Reset button.
  3. Keep pressing the button and plug the Gateway back in.
  4. Hold the button for another 30 seconds.
  5. Wait for your Gateway to restart.
  6. Log in with the password on your Gateway’s label.
