2026 Expected “Good Score” vs. Rank

Because the Part A Mean jumped from 61.50 (in 2025) to 70.86 (in 2026), you will likely need a higher total score to achieve the same rank as last year.

  • 220+ Total: Highly likely for AIR 1–20 (IIT Bombay / IIT Delhi range).

  • 190–215 Total: Likely for AIR 20–60 (IIT Delhi / IIT Hyderabad / IIT Guwahati).

  • 165–185 Total: Likely for AIR 60–120 (IIT Guwahati / IIT Roorkee / IIT Indore).

  • 140–160 Total: Likely for AIR 120–250 (IIITDM Jabalpur / Newer IITs).

Key Factors for 2026 Admissions

  • Part A Cutoff Spike: The General qualifying mark for Part A is approximately 83.75 this year, compared to 74.35 last year. If you didn’t clear this, your Part B was not evaluated.

  • Part B Importance: Since many students scored high in Part A, the Part B (Drawing/Design) marks will be the true “rank-maker” this year. Even a 5-mark lead in Part B can jump you 30+ ranks in the middle of the pack.

  • Seat Matrix: There are 245 total seats across all participating IITs for the 2026–27 academic year.

Next Steps

  1. Download Scorecard: Official scorecards with Part A and Part B breakdowns will be available on March 10, 2026.

  2. B.Des Applications: The common application window for all IITs opens on March 14, 2026. You must apply separately through the UCEED portal to be considered for seat allotment.
