When you search the web with the Google app, you can open webpages without a browser. This means you can:
- Open search result links faster.
- Stay in the Google app.
- Copy, share, or reopen a link in your browser.
Open a webpage in the Google app
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google app .
- Do a search.
- Tap a search result link.
- A webpage will open inside the Google app.

Turn “Open webpages in the app” on or off
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google app .
- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial Settings General.
- Turn Open web pages in the app on or off.
Find recent webpages or results
When you open webpages or search in the Google app, you can find the last week of results on your device.
Important: When you remove a webpage from Recents, the page isn’t deleted from your Search history.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google app .
- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial Recent.
- To find your open webpages: Swipe left or right.
- To remove a webpage from your Recents: Swipe up on the page.
Turn off Recents
If you don’t want to find webpages or search results from the last week in Recents, you can change your settings.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google app .
- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or initial Settings General.
- Turn off Recent pages.
Share, copy, save, or open in a browser
When you open a webpage in the Google app, you can use that link. For example, you can:
- Share a link: Tap Share . Then, choose an app, like Gmail or Messages.
- Copy a link: Tap More Copy link. Then, paste the link wherever you’d like.
- Open a link in your browser: Tap More Open in browser or Open in Chrome. Then, you can use browser features, like bookmarks.
- Save a page: To save the page to your favorites, tap Save
iPhone & iPad
Open webpages in the app
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google app .
- Do a search.
- To open a search results link in the app, either:
- Tap the link.
- Touch and hold the link. Then tap Open or Open in new page.
Share, copy, save, or open in browser
After you open a webpage in the Google app, you can use that page’s link.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open a webpage in the Google app .
- Tap Share .
- Pick an action. For example:
- Share link: To share the link via an app on your device, like Gmail, tap the app.
- Copy link: Tap Copy URL. Then paste the link wherever you’d like.
- Open in a web browser: Tap Open in [browser]. Then you can use browser features, like bookmarks.

Tip: You can also copy any link in the Google app. Touch and hold the link, and then tap Copy.
