WOW Not Enough Memory | WOW Classic Server Status

Here are the solutions for the “Not Enough Memory” error and the current status of the WoW Classic servers. On the Character Select screen (or Login screen), go to Menu > System > Graphics.

Part 1: Fix for “Not Enough Memory” Error

This is a known issue, often caused by a conflict with DirectX 12 or corrupted addon data, rather than your PC actually running out of RAM.

Try these steps in order:

  1. Switch to DirectX 11 (Most Likely Fix)

    • On the Character Select screen (or Login screen), go to Menu > System > Graphics.

    • Find Graphics API and change it from DirectX 12 to DirectX 11.

    • Restart the game.

  2. Reset Game Files (UI/Addons)

    • Close the game completely.

    • Go to your World of Warcraft installation folder (usually C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\_classic_).

    • Rename the following three folders (e.g., add .old to the end):

      • Cache $\rightarrow$ Cache.old

      • Interface $\rightarrow$ Interface.old

      • WTF $\rightarrow$ WTF.old

    • Relaunch the game. (This resets your UI; if it works, one of your addons was the cause).

  3. Scan and Repair

    • Open the Battle.net desktop app.

    • Click the cogwheel icon next to the Play button.

    • Select Scan and Repair.
