To activate your Wisdom Panel DNA kit, you should follow the steps at wisdompanel.com/activate. This is a critical first step; the lab cannot process your pet’s sample until the kit is registered to your account.

Simply go to ActivateMyKit.com and select Create Account/Activate kit if this is your first kit, or just Activate Kit if you already have an account. This will allow immediate tracking of your sample as well as updates throughout the process of the test analysis. Please be sure to complete all the required fields.
How to Activate Your Kit
Find Your Code: Locate the unique Sample ID (activation code) provided in your kit. This is usually found on the swab envelope or a card inside the box.
Create or Sign In: Visit the activation page. If you are a new user, you will need to create a “Pet Parent” account.
Enter Details: Enter the Sample ID and provide information about your pet (name, sex, and weight).
Note: The report defaults to the gender you enter here, though the lab can see the genetic gender in the raw data.
Confirmation: Once finished, you will receive an Activation Confirmation Number.

The Collection Process
Since you’ve been doing technical troubleshooting lately, here are the “best practices” to ensure the sample isn’t rejected by the lab:
The 2-Hour Rule: Ensure your pet hasn’t eaten for at least 2 hours before swabbing to avoid food debris contamination.
The Swab Technique: Firmly roll the swab against the inside of the cheek for 15 seconds. You need to collect cheek cells, not just saliva.
Air Dry: Let the swabs air dry for 5 minutes before putting them back into the protective sleeve. Do not reseal the sleeve, as this can trap moisture and cause bacterial growth.

Troubleshooting Common Errors
“Code Already Activated”: If you see this error (a known issue for some users), check if the kit was purchased from an authorized seller. If it’s a new kit from Wisdom Panel directly, wait 24 hours and try again, as their database sometimes takes time to sync.
Lost Confirmation Number: If you forget to write down your confirmation number for the return envelope, don’t worry—you can write the Sample ID on the back of the envelope instead.
Tracking: After mailing the prepaid package, you can track the status (Received, Processing, etc.) by logging into your account dashboard.
Results usually take 2–3 weeks from the time the lab receives the sample.
