The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced on Tuesday that all-rounder Sam Curran will miss the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2021 and the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and Oman later this month due to a lower back injury.

Curran complained of back pain after the Saturday match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021).
Curran will not play in any of CSK’s remaining IPL games as he is scheduled to return to Australia in the next few days.

KS Viswanathan, CEO of CSK, commented on Curran’s injury “A lower back injury will keep Curran out for the remainder of the season, which is a real loss for the team. As a family, we are praying for his speedy recovery and know that he will be stronger as a result. The injury has been reported to BCCI.”
Curran, 23, has represented England in 24 Tests, 11 One-Day Internationals, and 16 Twenty20 Internationals. Prior to the IPL, he played for England in a Test match against India in England.
