If My Hatch app is not working (e.g., spinning wheel, device showing “offline,” or unable to control volume/lights), the issue is likely a connection glitch between your specific device and the Wi-Fi.
Hatch devices are notoriously sensitive to Wi-Fi fluctuations.
Here is how to fix the most common Hatch issues immediately:
1. The “Hard Reset” (Most Effective Fix)
If the app can’t find your device, you need to force the device to reconnect.
For Hatch Rest (1st Gen):
Find the small hole on the base (near the power cord).
Insert a paperclip for 2 seconds.
Wait for it to restart, then open the app.
For Hatch Rest 2nd Gen / Restore:
Unplug the device from the wall for 60 seconds.
Plug it back in and wait 30 seconds for it to fully boot up.
Force close the app on your phone and reopen it.

2. Check Your Wi-Fi (The 2.4GHz Rule)
Hatch devices will not connect to 5GHz Wi-Fi networks; they only work on the older 2.4GHz frequency.
Did you get a new router recently? If so, your phone might be on 5GHz while the Hatch is trying to find 2.4GHz.
The Fix: Go to your phone settings, forget your Wi-Fi network, and reconnect to the one labeled “2.4” or “Guest” (if you have split networks), then try pairing the Hatch again.
3. Enable Bluetooth & Local Network (iOS Users)
If you are on an iPhone, the app needs permission to “talk” to devices on your local network.
Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network.
Find Hatch Sleep in the list and make sure the toggle is ON (Green).
Also, ensure Bluetooth is enabled, as the app uses Bluetooth to find the device initially before switching to Wi-Fi.
4. Is the Sound/Light “Stuck”?
If the app says it’s playing, but no sound is coming out:
Tap the metal touch ring on top of the device. Does it respond?
Yes: The device is fine; the app is frozen. Uninstall and reinstall the app.
No: The device is frozen. Unplug it for 5 minutes (longer than usual) to drain the internal capacitors.
Still not working?
If you have a Hatch Restore 1, check the power cord connection at the base. A common defect is the power port becoming loose, causing the device to flicker or lose Wi-Fi intermittently.
