Why Bet365 is Not Working | Primary Reason

If you are in the USA, Bet365 is likely not working for you due to a major technical outage that began yesterday (November 28) and is still affecting some users today (November 29), OR because you are in a state where it is not legally licensed.

Here is the breakdown of the current situation.

1. Major Outage (November 28-29, 2025)

There was a widespread crash of the Bet365 app and website starting late on Thanksgiving (Nov 28).

  • Status: While some services have been restored, many users in the US are still reporting login failures, stuck loading screens, or “Unable to Connect” errors as of this morning.

  • The Fix: If you suspect this is the cause, do not reset your password repeatedly (it won’t help). Wait a few hours for their servers to stabilize, or try clearing your app cache to remove the “broken” session data.

2. “Restricted Location” (Geofencing)

Unlike in Europe, Bet365 is not legal in every US state. If you cross a state line into a “non-legal” state, the app will instantly block you.

  • Bet365 is ONLY legal in these states (as of Nov 2025):

    • Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia.

    • (Note: Missouri is scheduled to launch soon, but not active yet).

  • The Fix: If you are not physically in one of these states, you cannot bet.

3. The “Player Location Check” Error

If you are in a legal state but it still won’t work, the “GeoComply” plugin is likely failing.

  • On iPhone/Android: You must have Location Services set to “Always On” or “While Using the App”. If you have it off or on “Ask Next Time,” it will block you.

  • On Computer: You must install the “GeoComply” plugin for your browser. If you have a pop-up blocker or antivirus, it might be stopping this plugin from running.

  • Wi-Fi Required: Even on a desktop computer, you often need to have Wi-Fi turned ON (even if you use an Ethernet cable) because the software uses nearby Wi-Fi signals to verify your exact location.

4. VPNs are Blocked

If you are trying to use a VPN to appear as if you are in a legal state (e.g., pretending to be in New Jersey while you are in California), it will not work.

  • Bet365’s security is extremely aggressive against VPNs. If they detect one, they will give you a generic “Connection Error” or restrict your account immediately.

  • The Fix: Turn off all VPNs and Proxy tools.

Summary Checklist

  1. Check Status: Is it the outage? (Check DownDetector or Twitter for recent “Bet365 down” spikes).

  2. Check State: Are you physically in one of the 13 legal states listed above?

  3. Check Location: Is your Wi-Fi on and Location Services enabled?
