“The Backwoods” Patch Highlights
This update focuses heavily on technical overhauls rather than new story content. Here are the key changes:
1. Massive Armor Overhaul
Weight Reductions: Body armor weight is reduced by 40–80%, and Power Armor weight is slashed by roughly 90%.
Underarmor Rework: “Shielded” is no longer the default best. Underarmor now has two components: Types (determines resistances) and Styles (determines SPECIAL bonuses). You can now mix and match stats independently of the armor’s look.
2. The “Bigfoot” Update & 4-Star Gear
Party Crashers: After certain Public Events, there is a 33% chance for a 4-Star Boss (like Bigfoot or an “Uninvited” Wendigo Colossus) to spawn.
4-Star Loot: These bosses can drop 4-star legendary items. A new 4th-star mod, “Thrill-Seeker’s,” increases reload and melee speed based on your current killstreak.
3. Quality of Life & Economy
Legendary Icons: Vending machines and loot will now clearly distinguish between Legendary Mods and standard weapon mods with a unique icon.
Gauss Minigun: The “Overheat” mechanic has been removed because it wasn’t functioning correctly. Base damage was adjusted to compensate, keeping it at the top of the heavy weapons meta.
Movement Speed: The movement speed cap has been increased from 120 to 150.
4. Season 24: Cryptids from Beyond the Cosmos
Rip Daring Returns: A new reward track is live, featuring extraterrestrial and cryptid-themed CAMP items, skins, and the new Bigfoot’s Bash event starting immediately after servers go live.
