When Will ESO Servers Be Back Up | Elder Scrolls Online Down

The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) servers are currently down for a major maintenance window to deploy Update 49. This is a massive update for the game, which is why the downtime is longer than a standard weekly reset.

Maintenance Schedule (Monday, March 9, 2026)

The servers for both PC/Mac and Consoles (Xbox and PlayStation) were taken offline simultaneously to accommodate the new simultaneous update model.

  • Started: 4:00 AM EDT / 8:00 UTC

  • Estimated Completion: 12:00 PM (Noon) EDT / 16:00 UTC

  • Status: In Progress

Historically, major patch maintenance like this can be extended if issues arise during the deployment of new assets. However, they occasionally finish early. If you are in a different time zone, here is the expected “back up” time:

  • PDT (West Coast): 9:00 AM

  • EDT (East Coast): 12:00 PM

  • GMT/UTC: 16:00

  • IST (India): 9:30 PM

What’s in Update 49?

This is a massive update for the game, which is why the downtime is longer than a standard weekly reset.

  • DLCs Moving to Base Game: Four classic adventures—Orsinium, Imperial City, Thieves Guild, and Dark Brotherhood—are being integrated into the base game for all players at no extra cost.

  • New Class Availability: The Warden class is now officially part of the base game.

  • Dragonknight Refresh: Significant visual and balance updates to Dragonknight abilities.

  • Quality of Life: Major reductions in the cost of Bag and Bank space upgrades.

Pro-Tips for Post-Maintenance

  1. Update Your Add-ons: If you’re on PC, Minion will likely have a long list of updates. Many UI and combat add-ons will be broken until their developers push Update 49 compatibility fixes.

  2. Expect a Large Download: Since this update restructures how several DLC zones are handled, the patch file is larger than usual. Ensure you have enough disk space before starting the launcher.

  3. Login Queue: Once the servers go live, there is often a “Login Queue” due to the high volume of players trying to see the new changes.
