The “Contract Cycling” Strategy

The most important thing to know is that Contracts, specifically “Priority Contracts,” are the primary source of XP. Fighting other players is fun, but it’s slow for leveling.

  • Focus on Factions: Start with CyberAcme (Cyac). Their early contracts unlock the other four factions. Once unlocked, always have a contract active for Arachne or MIDA, as their early missions are often simple “fetch or kill” tasks that can be finished in minutes.

  • The “One-and-Done” Loop: 1. Enter the map with a specific contract objective. 2. Rush the objective immediately. 3. Extract immediately. Do not hang around to loot the whole map or hunt players. The XP for completing the contract and successfully extracting far outweighs the XP from kills.

  • Priority Contracts: These are marked with a distinct icon in the faction menu. They offer significantly higher XP and should be your absolute priority.

Efficiency Tips

  • Squad Up (Even without Mics): The game is faster in a group. You can complete objectives for each other (e.g., if a teammate kills a UESC force for their contract, it counts for yours too). Fill your crew slots even if you’re playing with randoms.

  • Use the “Rook” Wisely: If you are low on gear and keep dying (which resets your momentum), use the Rook shell. It gives you a free starter kit and lets you blend in with UESC AI, making it easier to sneak into mission areas.

    • Note: Some users report contract progress is disabled as Rook, so use it mainly to scavenge gear, then switch to a main shell for XP runs.

  • Movement is Key: Run with your knife out to move faster between objectives, but listen for footsteps. Use the Vandal shell if you have it unlocked, as its agility helps you cross the map and extract faster.

  • Ignore the “Loot”: At this stage, loot doesn’t matter since it won’t carry over. Only keep what you need to survive the next run. Focus 100% on the XP rewards from the mission completion screen.

Summary of Rewards you’re chasing:

  • Level 10: Enhanced Arrival Cache (Green gear for launch).

  • Level 30: Deluxe Arrival Cache (Blue gear, Deluxe Magnum, and a special backpack).
