
There are three ways to activate your Walmart MoneyCard: Online, By Phone and Via the Walmart MoneyCard Mobile App.
1. Online:
- Go to WalmartMoneyCard.com/activate.
- Enter the requested information, including your:
- 16-digit card number
- Expiration date
- 3-digit security code (CVV)
- Name
- Address
- Date of birth
- Social Security Number (SSN) or Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN)
- Mobile phone number
- Create a username and password for your online account.
- Review the information you entered and click “Activate.”
- You’ll receive a confirmation message once your card is activated.
2. By Phone:
- Call the Walmart MoneyCard customer service number at (877) 937-4098.
- Follow the automated prompts to provide your card and personal details.
3. Via the Walmart MoneyCard Mobile App:
- Download the Walmart MoneyCard app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
- Log in or sign up for an account.
- Navigate to the activation section and follow the on-screen instructions.
Walmart Money Card Activation Problems

- Double-check all entries: Ensure all card details (number, expiry date, CVV) and personal information are accurate. Even a small typo can cause activation to fail.

- Previously activated card: If you purchased a card from a store, it might have been accidentally activated already. Contact customer support for assistance.
4. Account Verification Problems:
- Security checks: Walmart may perform security checks to verify your identity.
- Mismatched information: If the information you provide doesn’t match Walmart’s records, your activation might be flagged. Contact customer support to resolve any discrepancies.
5. General Troubleshooting:
- Clear browser cache and cookies: If using the website, try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.
- Try a different browser or device: Compatibility issues can sometimes arise.

Remember: You must be 18 or older to purchase and activate a Walmart MoneyCard.
What can Walmart MoneyCard Accounts be used for?
The Walmart MoneyCard is a debit card account. Just like a checking account, Walmart MoneyCard is a powerful way to manage your money and make it easy to do things like:
- Deposit cash in-store with your card or without your card using a secure barcode in the app
- Direct deposit payroll or government benefits with routing and account numbers to provide to your employee or benefits office.
- Shop online or in-store everywhere Mastercard® or Visa® Debit is accepted in the U.S.
- Earn cash back on eligible Walmart purchases made with the Walmart MoneyCard, up to $75 every year.
- Quickly send money or receive money from other Walmart MoneyCard cardholders or any other Green Dot Bank issued card nationwide.
- Receive your pay up to 2 days before payday or government benefits up to 4 days before benefits day with free direct deposit (subject to deposit verification and your payment provider’s process and timing).
- Conveniently pay bills on your schedule.
- Use the card in your mobile wallets when you set up your Walmart MoneyCard for Walmart Pay, Google PayTM or Samsung Pay®.
- Put away money with in the Savings feature that earns 2% interest on balances up to $1000.
- Order family accounts for up to 4 approved members ages 13+ with your activated, personalized card.
