Villanova National Championships Today Game: NCAA Men’s Basketball Villanova Leads

No. 8 Xavier faces No. 9 Butler in the opening game of the 2022 Big East Men’s Basketball Tournament on Wednesday at Madison Square Garden.

Each of the first-round bye-eligible teams — Providence, Villanova, Connecticut, Creighton, and Marquette — will not play until Thursday in the quarterfinal round.

With Villanova, Providence, and UConn, this year’s Big East tournament has three of the best teams in America competing against each other.

However, despite defeating Providence twice in the regular season, Villanova was not seeded No. 1. As a result of their first-ever Big East regular season championship, the Friars were given this honour.

BIG EAST MBB

UConn climbed the Big East standings with a 6-2 record in their last eight games, which earned them the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament. However, Seton Hall, the No. 6 seed in the Big East tournament, is the most hotly anticipated team. After five straight wins, the Pirates are guaranteed to face UConn in the quarterfinals. Georgetown, a potential first-round opponent for Seton Hall, is winless in 20 games overall and 0-19 in the Big East.

The top three seeds in this tournament are all fairly evenly distributed. According to the odds, Villanova (+163), UConn (+333) or Providence (+1500) are likely to win this year’s tournament at the World’s Most Famous Arena.
