Verizon Refund $100 Settlement
Certain Verizon subscribers have until Monday to submit their refund requests in accordance with a $100 million settlement reached in a class-action lawsuit.
Specifically, there will be an initial minimum allocated amount of $15.00 for your account plus $1.00 for each month your account received postpaid wireless or data services from Verizon and was charged and paid an Administrative Charge and/or an Administrative and Telco Recovery Charge between January 1, 2016 and the date of the Settlement Agreement, up to a maximum initial allocated amount of $100.00.
The wireless carrier notified eligible customers via email or postcard earlier this year that they had until April 15 to submit a claim in order to be eligible for a maximum $100 reimbursement. The claim was filed in response to a lawsuit that accused Verizon of charging fees that were deemed “unfair and inadequately disclosed.”
Individuals who wish to submit a claim must do so by 11:59 p.m. PT on a website verizonadministrativechargesettlement.com. There, they will be required to complete a form that specifies the necessary details, such as the phone number associated with the Verizon account and a preferred method of money transfer, including Venmo, bank wire, or cheque.
The minimum reimbursement is $15, with the potential for a higher amount contingent upon the duration of the customer’s Verizon service and the volume of claim submissions. For eligibility, a claim must be submitted; additionally, only consumers who had postpaid wireless accounts or data plans between January 1, 2016 and November 8, 2023 are eligible.
What is this lawsuit about?
Verizon customers in the United States who purchased post-paid wireless contracts from Verizon and were assessed an administrative charge are the subject of the class action lawsuit. Plaintiffs generally contended that Verizon’s advertisements and representations concerning the pricing of its post-paid wireless service plans were deceptive due to the omission of the Administrative Charge from the prices. Furthermore, the plaintiffs alleged that Verizon unfairly and deceitfully implemented, charged, and escalated the Administrative Charge. This case’s complaint is accessible at this location.
As detailed below, Verizon and the plaintiffs have now reached a settlement to resolve this lawsuit. The validity of the Plaintiffs’ claims and/or Verizon’s defenses has not been determined by the court. Verizon and the Plaintiffs do not acknowledge any liability on Verizon’s part or on the merits of the allegations, claims, or defenses in this case by consenting to the settlement. Verizon has consistently maintained its denial regarding any wrongdoing on its part and the merits of the lawsuit. Verizon asserts its intention to maintain the imposition of the Administrative Charge and defends its authority to escalate the aforementioned charge. Verizon shall amend its Customer Agreement to incorporate updated disclosures regarding administrative charges as a component of this settlement.
This legal action is being presided over by the Superior Court of the State of New Jersey. Docket No. MID-L-6360-23 pertains to the legal proceeding titled Esposito et al. v. Cellco Partnership d/b/a Verizon Wireless.
What are the benefits of the proposed settlement?
Verizon will remit $100 million into a Settlement Fund in the event that the agreement is ratified and completed. The allocated funds will be utilized for the following purposes:
(1) disburse settlement payments to members of the Settlement Class, as elaborated in Questions 5-9 below;
(2) cover the expenses associated with disseminating notices, settlement checks, and electronic payments to Settlement Class members, in addition to other settlement administration costs; and
(3) reimburse the court-awarded fees and expenses of the settlement class counsel appointed by the court to represent the class, as well as any service awards bestowed upon the Pla.
If you meet the eligibility criteria and submit a claim by the specified deadline, you could receive a maximum payment of $100.00 for your Verizon account. However, the precise amount may be reduced contingent upon the length of time you were a subscriber to Verizon and the number of Settlement Class Members who submit valid claims.
Verizon will additionally amend its Customer Agreement to incorporate updated disclosures regarding administrative charges as a component of this settlement.
How do I get a payment?
You need to file a claim by April 15, 2024 to receive a settlement payment.

The deadline to file a claim online or by mail is April 15, 2024. The Settlement Administrator will review all claims and determine eligibility.
How much will the payments be?
If you file a valid claim by the deadline and are eligible for a payment, your payment may be up to $100.00 for your account, but the final amount may be lower depending on how long you were a Verizon subscriber and how many Settlement Class Members file valid claims.

If the Settlement Fund is not sufficient to pay all the filed valid claims after deducting any Court-approved amounts for the cost of settlement administration, attorneys’ fees and costs, and incentive awards to the class representatives, then the payments made to the Settlement Class Members who filed valid claims will be decreased from the initial allocated amount on a pro-rata basis. You must submit a claim by the deadline to receive a payment.
