VA Citrix Access Gateway : VA Remote Access Information
To access the VA Citrix Gateway, follow these steps:
Ensure you have the necessary permissions: Remote access to the VA network is not granted to everyone. Contact your supervisor or IT department to request remote access and have your account enabled.
Install the Citrix Workspace app: If you haven’t already, download and install the Citrix Workspace app on your personal computer. You can usually find it on the Citrix website or through your organization’s IT resources.
Open the Citrix Workspace app: Launch the Citrix Workspace app on your computer.
Enter the gateway URL: In the Citrix Workspace app, you will be prompted to enter the gateway URL. For VA Citrix Access Gateway, the URL is usually https://citrixaccess.va.gov.
Enter your credentials: Enter your VA network username and password when prompted. You may also be required to complete additional authentication steps, such as multi-factor authentication.
Access your virtual desktop or applications: Once you’ve successfully logged in, you should see your available virtual desktop or applications. Select the one you want to access and start working.
Internal Network Access: The Remote Access Self Service Portal, which you might need to request remote access, is only accessible from within the VA network.

Accessing Citrix Workspace App or Citrix Receiver
1. Navigate to www.citrix.com
2. Hand over Resources and select Downloads
- For Receiver: Select View additional downloads under Additional Products & Services
- For Workspace App: From the Select a product drop down menu > Select Citrix Workspace App
3. Select the drop down arrow next to the desired Workspace app
- Note: The latest version applicable to the device being used will be highlighted.
4. Once the desired app has been located, select the Citrix Workspace app link
5. Select the Download Citrix Workspace app button.
VA Office of Information and Technology (OIT) provides multiple Remote Access solutions for accessing the VA enterprise network.
All Remote Access solutions require a valid VA user account, a VA (or other federal agency) email address, an approved remote access request for each specific access method, and smart card/multi-factor authentication.
