This error message is Ubisoft’s generic “catch-all” for a connection handshake failure. Given that today is Wednesday, February 4, 2026, there is a very high chance this is related to the massive “Emergency Maintenance” that took place yesterday.
Although servers are technically “back online,” many users (especially in the Asian/Indian region) are still hitting this specific error due to residual server sync issues.
Here is the step-by-step fix to bypass it:
1. The “Mobile Data” Hotspot Fix (Most Effective for India)
Ubisoft’s security filters often block specific ISP nodes (like Jio Fiber or Airtel Xstream) during high-traffic recovery periods.
Disconnect your PC/Console from your home WiFi.
Turn on your phone’s mobile hotspot (Jio/Airtel 4G/5G).
Connect your device to the hotspot.
Try the login or request again.
Why this works: It assigns you a fresh IP address that hasn’t been “flagged” by Ubisoft’s bot protection during the outage cleanup. Once you are logged in, you can switch back to WiFi.

2. The “Incognito” Browser Trick
If this is happening on the Ubisoft Website (password reset or login):
The “error occurred” message is often a corrupted cookie from when the site was down yesterday.
Open an Incognito/Private window (Ctrl + Shift + N).
Go directly to
account.ubisoft.comand try there.Note: If you are trying to reset a password, do not use the old link in your email. Request a brand new one from the Incognito window.
3. The “Soft Ban” Warning
Did you click “Log In” or “Reset Password” multiple times in a row?
Ubisoft has a strict “Rate Limit” protection. If you spam the button, they soft-ban your IP for roughly 60 minutes.
If you suspect this happened, you must wait a full hour without clicking anything before trying again, or use the “Mobile Data” method above to bypass the IP ban immediately.
4. Background App Conflict (PC Only)
Since the recent update, the Ubisoft Connect launcher conflicts with overlay apps.
Close Discord, Overwolf, or any “Game Booster” software running in the system tray.
Restart the Ubisoft client as Administrator.
