Note: If you’re rostering your classes via Clever, Classlink, Google Classroom, or MS Teams, you will not be able to use the Self-Join Link or the Join-Code.

Self-Join Link

What is the Self-Join Link?

The Self-Join Link is a unique link that students can use to join a class with a new or an existing student account.

Where can I find the Self-Join Link?

To find the Self-Join Link you need to go to your teacher account > click on “My Classes” > click on any class > click on the “Class Join-Code” located on the top-right corner of the screen.

Note: If you don’t see the “Class Join-Code” that’s because you’re rostering your classes via Clever, Classlink, Google Classroom, or MS Teams. If that’s the case, you won’t be able to use the self-join link or the join-code. 

When should I use the Self-Join Link?

Students can use the self-join link when they have to join a new class. They’ll be able to move their existing student accounts from one class to another or they can join the class with a brand new account

Note: The teachers will be responsible for sharing the self-join link with the students

How do I use the Self-Join Link?

1) Go to your teacher account

2) Click on “My Classes” on the left sidebar

3) Click on one of the classes

4) Click on the “Class Join-Code” located on the top-right corner of the screen

5) Share the Self-Join Link with the students

6) Ask the students to open the Self-Join Link on a new window

7) They’ll see two options to join your class; join with a new account or join with an existing account

8) Finally, the teacher needs to go back to the teacher portal and accept the students’ requests to join the class.

What is the Join-Code?

The Join-Code is a unique code that students can use to join a class.

Note: The student must have an existing student account to be able to use the Join-Code

Where can I find the Join-Code? 

To find the Join-Code you need to go to your teacher account > click on “My Classes” > click on any class > click on the “Class Join-Code” located on the top right corner of the screen.

If that’s the case, you won’t be able to use the self-join link or the join-code. Also, make sure that you only copy the Join-Code (the last part of the Self-Join Link – after the “#” symbol)

When should I use the Join-Code?

Students can use the Join-Code when they have to join a new class. With the Join-Code, students will be able to move their existing student accounts from one class to another.

How do I use the Join-Code?

4) Click on the “Class Join-Code” located on the top-right corner of the screen. Note: Make sure that you only copy the Join-Code (the last part of the Self-Join Link – after the “#” symbol).

5) Share the Join-Code with the students.

6) Ask the students to go to their Typing.com accounts and click on “Account Settings”

7) Paste the Join-Code in the field “Class Join-Code” and click on “Join Classroom”

8) Finally, the teacher needs to go back to the teacher portal and accept the students’ requests to join the class.
