Twitch Fix. Your Message was not Sent because you are sending messages too quickly.

The message “your message was not sent because you are sending messages too quickly” on Twitch means that you have hit Twitch’s chat rate limit, which prevents users from sending chat messages too rapidly within a short period.

This is a built-in anti-spam safeguard enforced by Twitch.

Rate Limits for Twitch Chat

  • Regular Users:

    • Can send up to 20 messages every 30 seconds per account across all channels, or up to 1 message per second per channel.

  • Broadcasters, Moderators, and VIPs:

    • Can send up to 100 messages per 30 seconds in their own channels, but still must respect the 1 message per second per channel cap.

  • Verified Bots:

    • Have an increased limit of 7,500 messages every 30 seconds, used primarily by large, officially verified bots.

  • Minimum Slow Mode:

    • Every Twitch channel enforces at least a 1-second slow mode—meaning you are never able to send more than one message per second in any chat, regardless of role.

What to Do When You See This Error

  • Wait a few seconds and try sending your message again.

  • Avoid sending multiple messages rapidly or copy-pasting the same message within a short time frame.

  • If a channel has slow mode enabled, respect the timer shown; trying to send messages before the timer expires will trigger this error.

  • Consider breaking up long messages or combining what you want to say into fewer posts.

If you regularly hit this limit and are not a bot, moderator, or broadcaster, consider the messaging pace and check if you are triggering it by accident (e.g., overzealous copy-pasting or flooding chat with emotes).

These rules help keep chats readable and prevent spam for all Twitch users.
