A debit card gives you the freedom to make digital purchases and in-person payments using the cash in your checking account—but you’ll need to activate it first.

You can open your new account any way you want—with a couple of exceptions.

Activate your Debit Card Online

Activate your Truist Card today. Please provide the information below to get started.

1. Click Here to go to the Activation Page

2. Please enter your Card Number on the Page

3. Then enter the Expiration Date like month and year written on the card

4. Now enter the Security Code and Zip Code on the page

5. Lastly enter the SSN or TIN.

6. Now click the Activate Button on the page.

The Card will be ACTIVATED in due time.

Truist Card

Truist Online Savings accounts can only be opened online.

Truist CDs can only be opened at a branch.

Online: Get started right away by opening your account online. You’ll have to wait a few days for your debit card and checks to arrive by mail—or you can visit a branch to get a temporary debit card ASAP.

Transfer money between your accounts to access cash instantly.

Online banking

  • Sign in to online banking.
  • Select Transfer & pay.
  • Select Transfer money & pay Truist accounts.
  • Choose the account you want to transfer money from in the first drop-down menu.
  • Choose the account you want to transfer money to in the second drop down menu.
  • Select One-time or Recurring
  • Enter the amount to transfer
  • Select when to transfer.
  • For One-time transfers, select or enter a transaction date.
  • For Recurring transfers, select or enter your start date, and then select your frequency from the drop-down menu.
  • Enter an optional memo.
  • Select Continue.
  • Review your transfer details. If they’re incorrect, select Edit to make corrections. If they’re correct, select Send transfer.

Mobile Banking

  • Sign in to online banking.
  • Select Transfer & pay.
  • Select Transfer money & pay Truist accounts.
  • Select the account you want to transfer money from in “From”.
  • Select the account you want to transfer money to in “To”.
  • Select One-time or Recurring.
  • Enter the amount to transfer
  • Select when to transfer.
  • For One-time transfers, select or enter a transaction date.
  • For Recurring transfers, select or enter your start date, and then select your frequency from the drop-down menu.

  4. I also cannot activate the debit card. Only get error message. This is absurd. This website is packed with suspect ads which Truist is probably being paid for. So far switch to Truist is no benefit for customers but I’m sure earned bank execs plenty of money

    • Neil hello, I saw all the comments regarding activating the card, I just called the 800 number and it less than 1 minute to activate, if you haven’t tried this method give it a try.

  7. I am upset that I thought I was activating my card and actually signed up for Tudum. This is ridiculous. Never had this problem at Suntrust.

  8. This is ridiculous. Been on hold for over 15 minutes with the stupid 800 number. Website gives an error message. Thinking of just transferring my money to another bank!

  9. This is ridiculous! I DO NOT want a trial of anything. I cannot activate my card without accepting this trial subscription. NOT INTERESTED.

  10. been on the phone for 30 minutes now…have been with suntrust for 20 years and loved the people and the service ,,, I think it is time to change banks….this is not what i want in the way of banking …..something doesn’t seem right.

    • Had my card activated Feb. 21st at the 800 number. The recording confirmed activation. Tried to use my card at the grocery store on Feb.25 and it was declined. Can’t understand what’s going on.
