TFT Patch Notes 16.1 C | Set 16: Lore & Legends

Patch 16.1c is the current “Holiday/Winter Break” patch for Teamfight Tactics (Set 16: Lore & Legends). It went live around December 16, 2025, and is the final balance state of the game before the 2026 season officially begins.

Important Note: This patch cycle is ending. Patch 26.1 (the first patch of the 2026 season) is scheduled to release this Thursday, January 8, 2026.

Here are the key changes and the current meta for 16.1c:

1. Meta Snapshot (What is winning right now)

Since the C-patch settled, the meta has solidified into a few dominant strategies:

  • S-Tier (The “Swiper” Comp): Aphelios & Jarvan IV Reroll. This is the breakout comp of the patch. You reroll at Level 6 for Aphelios 3-star (Carry) and Jarvan 3-star (Tank/Utility). Jarvan’s shield and Attack Speed buff scale Aphelios into a monster.

  • S-Tier (Fast 9): “Legendary Soup”. Because the meta slowed down slightly with reroll buffs, players who survive to Level 9 dominate using 5-cost units like Thex and Yunara.

  • A-Tier: Noxus Vertical. Buffed in this patch, making 7 Noxus a very strong mid-game board that can top 4 consistently.

2. Official 16.1c Patch Notes (Mid-Patch Update)

These are the specific numerical changes that went live in this update:

Traits

  • Bilgewater (Nerf): The 10-piece chase trait was nerfed significantly (Cannon Damage: 750 $\rightarrow$ 500).

  • Noxus (Buff): Health multipliers increased for Noxus (7) and (10).

    • Stage 4 HP Multiplier: 4.75x $\rightarrow$ 5x

    • Stage 5 HP Multiplier: 6.25x $\rightarrow$ 6.5x

  • Yordle (Buff): 3-Star Yordles now grant a 100% bonus (up from 50%) to HP and Attack Speed for other Yordles, making Yordle reroll viable again.

Units (Champions)

  • Caitlyn (Buff): Base Attack Speed increased (0.7 $\rightarrow$ 0.75).

  • Sona (Buff): Ability Damage increased at all ranks (helping the Sona/Piltover reroll lines).

  • Yasuo (Buff): Attack Damage and AP scaling increased (trying to make Yasuo carry viable separate from Yone).

  • Dr. Mundo (Buff): Mana buffed (0/80 $\rightarrow$ 0/60).

  • Gwen (Buff): Health (800 $\rightarrow$ 850) and Resists (50 $\rightarrow$ 55) increased.

Items (Bilgewater Artifacts Nerfed)

  • Barknuckles: Armor/MR reduced (45 $\rightarrow$ 35).

  • Pile O’ Citrus: Health reduced (700 $\rightarrow$ 600) and bonus serpents reduced (20 $\rightarrow$ 10).

Summary for your games today

If you are playing today before the Thursday reset:

  1. Force Aphelios/Jarvan if you get a good AD start.

  2. Play Noxus if you get early Noxian cards (it’s uncontested and buffed).

  3. Avoid Bilgewater unless you high-roll significantly, as the items and top-end traits were hit hard.
