TeamViewer Not Working Outage | TeamViewer Offline and Down

As of today, March 10, 2026, there are no official reports of a global TeamViewer outage. However, there was a scheduled maintenance window on March 7, and minor regional connectivity issues were resolved on March 3.

If you are currently seeing “Offline” or “Not Ready,” it is likely a local configuration or network issue. Here is a checklist to get you back online:

🛠️ Rapid Fixes for “Offline” Status

1. Force Restart the Service (Windows)

Often the background service hangs even if the app looks “open.”

  • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.

  • Find TeamViewer in the list.

  • Right-click it and select Restart.

  • Tip: Set the “Startup Type” to Automatic while you’re there.

2. Check for “Easy Access” & ID Conflict

If you are trying to connect to a machine that says it’s offline but you know it’s on:

  • Server ID vs. User ID: On servers or multi-user setups, TeamViewer has a “Server ID” (for the machine) and a “User ID” (for the active session). If the user logs out, the User ID goes offline. Always connect to the Server ID for permanent access.

  • Check “Hide Online Status”: Go to Settings > Advanced > Advanced settings for Computers and Contacts and ensure Hide online status for this TeamViewer ID is unchecked.

3. DNS and Port Blocking

If you are in a corporate environment or using a strict ISP in Kerala:

  • Port 5938: TeamViewer primarily uses this port. If your firewall or router has recently updated its security rules, this port must be open for outbound traffic.

  • DNS Flush: Open Command Prompt as Admin and type ipconfig /flushdns. Sometimes your PC is trying to reach a TeamViewer master server via an old, cached IP.

4. Version Mismatch (Critical)

TeamViewer recently released version 15.74.5 to patch a high-severity security vulnerability (CVE-2026-23572).

  • If your client is older than 15.74, the servers may occasionally throttle or drop your connection for security reasons. Update both the local and remote machines immediately.

🚦 Is it actually down?

  • Official Status: status.teamviewer.com — Check here for the “DEX Platform” or “Management Console” status.

  • The “Cellular Test”: Switch your device to a mobile hotspot. If TeamViewer suddenly connects, the issue is your local Wi-Fi/ISP routing or a firewall block.
