T-FV-3175 NA Error Solution | TDS Error Rectify

The error code T-FV-3175 is a specific error encountered while filing TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) Returns in India. It indicates a version mismatch in the files you are using to validate your return.

The Error Message:

“T-FV-3175: Either you are using old FVU version or old challan file.”

The Solution

To fix this, you must update two specific files you are using in the validation process.

Step 1: Download the Latest CSI File

You cannot use a saved or old .csi (Challan Status Inquiry) file. You must download a fresh one on the same day you are validating.

  1. Go to the Income Tax e-Filing Portal (or your bank’s OLTAS link).

  2. Download the Challan Status Inquiry (CSI) file for the period you are filing.

  3. Crucial: Do not open or save this file with a new name. Keep the default filename.

Step 2: Update the FVU (File Validation Utility)

The error often triggers because NSDL (Protean) has updated the utility version, and you are using an older one.

  1. Visit the TIN-NSDL (Protean) website.

  2. Go to the Download section -> e-TDS/e-TCS.

  3. Download the latest FVU version (e.g., version 8.2 or newer, depending on the current date).

  4. Extract the folder and run the TDS_FVU_STANDALONE.jar (or .exe) from this new folder.

Step 3: Re-Validate

  1. Open the new FVU utility you just downloaded.

  2. In the “Challan Input File Name with Path” field, select the fresh .csi file you just downloaded in Step 1.

  3. Run the validation again. The error should now be gone.

Note: If you are using third-party software (like Tally, CompuTax, or Genius) to generate the return, ensure that the software itself is updated to the latest patch, as it might be pointing to an old internal FVU path.
