Star Citizen Loading Error 41058 Fix | Backend Connectivity Error

Error Code 41058 in Star Citizen is a backend connectivity error. It typically means the game client cannot verify your character data or account package with the central servers, often resulting in an infinite loading screen or a boot back to the menu.

Because this is a network/sync issue, it can usually be fixed without reinstalling the game. Try these solutions in order:

1. The VPN Fix (Most Successful)

For many users, this error is caused by a routing issue between your ISP and the Star Citizen servers.

  • Action: Install a reputable VPN (or use a free trial of one).

  • Set location: Connect to a server in a different region (e.g., if you are in the US, try a UK or Canada endpoint).

  • Launch: Try to load into the Persistent Universe.

  • Why it works: It forces your connection to take a different “road” to the game servers, bypassing the blockage causing the 41058 verification failure.

2. The Arena Commander “Unstick”

If your character is stuck in a “bad state” on the main server, loading a different module can force a data refresh.

  • Launch Star Citizen.

  • Instead of the Persistent Universe, select Arena Commander.

  • Choose any ship and enter Free Fly (Single Player).

  • Fly around for about 1 minute, then land and exit to the menu.

  • Try loading the Persistent Universe again.

3. Character Repair (RSI Website)

If the above fail, your character data might be corrupted on the backend.

  • Go to the Robert Space Industries website and log in.

  • Go to Account > Settings > Character Repair.

  • Initiate the repair and wait at least 15–30 minutes before trying to log in again.

    • Note: This will not delete your money or reputation, but it will send your items/armor back to your home planet’s local inventory and you will need to customize your character’s appearance again.

4. Network Flush

If it is a local cache issue:

  • Open Command Prompt as Administrator.

  • Type ipconfig /flushdns and hit Enter.

  • Disable IPv6: Some users report that disabling IPv6 in their network adapter settings resolves 40k-series errors.

Summary:

This is almost always a network handshake failure, not a problem with your PC hardware. Start with the VPN method or Arena Commander trick, as they are the fastest to test.
