1. General Troubleshooting

  • Restart the Launcher:

    • Fully exit both Star Citizen and the RSI Launcher, then restart them.
  • Run as Administrator:

    • Right-click the RSI Launcher icon and select “Run as administrator.”
  • Verify Game Files:

    1. Open and log in to the RSI Launcher.
    2. Go to Settings.
    3. Select the game channel (e.g., LIVE, PTU).
    4. Click the VERIFY button.
  • Check Antivirus/Firewall:

    • Ensure that RSI Launcher.exe and StarCitizen.exe are whitelisted in your antivirus and firewall software. Some players have reported issues with specific programs like Avast and Panda.
  • Check for Conflicts:

    • Temporarily turn off other running programs and applications that might be conflicting with the launcher.
  • Update Windows and Drivers:

      • Make sure your Windows updates are fully installed and that your SSD drivers are up to date. This is especially important for Samsung SSDs.

2. More Advanced Solutions

  • Delete Corrupted Files:

    1. Navigate to your StarCitizen\LIVE folder (by default, C:\Program Files\Roberts Space Industries\StarCitizen\LIVE).
    2. Locate and delete the data.p4k file.
    3. Restart the RSI Launcher and go to Settings > Verify to redownload the file.
  • Full Reinstall:

    1. Back up your controls and customcharacters folders located at \Roberts Space Industries\StarCitizen\LIVE\user\client\0.
    2. Uninstall the RSI Launcher.
    3. Delete the Roberts Space Industries folder.
    4. Go to %appdata% and delete the rsilauncher folder.
    5. Go to AppData\Local and delete the rsilauncher-updater and star citizen folders.
    6. Restart your PC and reinstall the launcher and game.
