To activate your Spectrum equipment, you have three main options. The My Spectrum App is generally the fastest method, but you can also use their website or an automated phone line.
Method 1: The “My Spectrum” App (Easiest)
Download & Sign In: Download the My Spectrum App (iOS or Android) and sign in with your Spectrum username and password.
Select “Set Up Equipment”: You should see a prompt on the home screen to “Set Up Equipment” or “Activate Service.”
Scan & Go: The app may ask you to scan the QR code on the back of your equipment (modem or receiver) to instantly link it to your account.
Method 2: Online Activation
Connect your modem or cable box (see “Physical Setup” below) and wait for it to power on completely.
Go to spectrum.net/selfinstall on your smartphone or computer.
Follow the prompts to verify your account (usually by entering your account number or phone number).
Method 3: Phone Activation
If you cannot get online, call the automated activation line:

Physical Setup Instructions
Before activating, ensure your hardware is physically connected correctly. The activation signal cannot reach your device if these cables are loose.
A. For Internet (Modem & Router)
Coax Cable: Screw one end of the coax cable into the wall outlet and the other into the modem port.
Power: Plug the power cord into the modem and an electrical outlet.
Wait: Wait 2–5 minutes for the “Online” light on the front to turn solid (stop blinking).
Router: If you have a separate router, connect it to the modem using the yellow Ethernet cable, then plug it into power.
Activate: Once the lights are solid, use the App or Website method above.
B. For TV (Cable Box/Receiver)
Coax Cable: Connect the wall outlet to the “Cable In” port on the back of the box.
HDMI: Connect the HDMI cable from the box to your TV.
Power: Plug the power cord in.
Turn On: Turn on your TV and switch to the correct HDMI input.
Activate: Wait for the box to download initial data (this can take up to 20 minutes). Once it asks for activation, use the App or Website method.
Troubleshooting Tips
Stuck on “Connecting”: If the “Online” light never stops blinking, try a different coax wall outlet in your home; the one you are using might not be active.
Own Modem: If you bought your own modem (not renting from Spectrum), you will need the MAC Address (found on the sticker on the bottom/back) ready when you call or go online.
