RTC Connecting No Route Discord | Turn off QoS

This RTC Connecting No Route error means Discord is trying to connect you to a voice server but is being blocked by a firewall, VPN, or network setting. It is almost always a problem on your end (or your ISP’s), not Discord’s servers.

Here are the fixes, ranked from most likely to work to least likely.

1. The “Golden Fix” (Turn off QoS)

This is the most common culprit. Discord tries to tag your voice packets as “High Priority,” but many routers and ISPs reject this tag, resulting in a “No Route” error.

  1. Open Discord User Settings (the gear icon near your name).

  2. Go to Voice & Video.

  3. Scroll down to the Quality of Service section.

  4. Disable “Enable Quality of Service High Packet Priority.”

  5. Restart Discord completely (right-click the icon in your system tray and select “Quit Discord,” then reopen it).

2. The “Silver Fix” (Flush DNS)

Your computer might be trying to connect to an old or incorrect IP address for the voice server.

  1. Press the Windows Key and type cmd.

  2. Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

  3. Type the following command and press Enter:

    Bash
    ipconfig /flushdns

  4. Optional but recommended: Type ipconfig /renew and press Enter.

3. The VPN/Firewall Check

  • VPNs: If you are using a VPN, turn it off. Discord voice (UDP) often fails over standard VPNs. If you must use a VPN, look for a setting called “Split Tunneling” and exclude Discord, or switch your VPN protocol to UDP.

  • Firewall: Your Windows Firewall might have blocked Discord after an update.

    1. Search for “Firewall & network protection” in Windows.

    2. Click “Allow an app through firewall.”

    3. Click Change settings, find discord.exe, and ensure both Private and Public boxes are checked.

4. Change Voice Region (If you are a Server Admin)

If this is happening in a specific server where you have Admin rights, the specific voice region might be having an outage.

  • Go to Server Settings > Overview.

  • Manually change the Server Region to a different country (e.g., from “US East” to “US Central”).

5. Are you at School or Work?

If you are on a school or corporate network (or university Wi-Fi), the network administrator has likely blocked the specific UDP ports Discord needs for voice. In this case, you cannot fix it without using a VPN (which might also be blocked).
