The Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) 2025 season has introduced significant changes, expanding the competitive landscape and increasing opportunities for players and fans alike.
🏆 Key Highlights of RLCS 2025
1. Expanded World Championship
The World Championship will now feature 20 teams, up from 16 in previous years.
A new Play-Ins stage has been added, where four teams from the Last Chance Open Qualifiers will compete against the lowest-seeded teams from the four lowest-ranked regions.
From this stage, only four teams will advance to join the top 12 in the main event, increasing the competition and opportunities for underdog teams .
2. Introduction of 1v1 Format
For the first time, RLCS will include a 1v1 format alongside the traditional 3v3 gameplay.
The 1v1 series will unfold in two splits:
Split 1: Open Qualifiers in EU, SAM, and APAC, with cash prizes awarded to the top players. Winners from EU and SAM will progress to a 1v1 Final at Major 1.
Split 2: Open Qualifiers in NA, MENA, OCE, and SSA, with cash prizes awarded to the top players. Winners from NA and MENA will progress to a 1v1 Final at Major 2.
The winners of the Major 1 and Major 2 1v1 Finals will face each other at the World Championship.
3. Last Chance Open Qualifiers
Between Major 2 and the World Championship, a Last Chance Open Qualifier will be held.
These qualifiers will occur in the four strongest regions based on performance at Majors.
Only one team from each region will advance to the World Championship, providing underdog teams a final opportunity to qualify.
4. Increased Prize Pool
The total prize pool for the 2025 season has increased to $5,000,000, up from $4.3 million in 2024.
This increase reflects Psyonix’s commitment to enhancing the competitive ecosystem and providing more opportunities for players and teams .
