Red Dead Online Server Status | Try these Fixes

Red Dead Online is experiencing specific stability issues depending on which platform you are using. According to the official Rockstar Service Status page, there are Partial Outages affecting console players specifically.

Current Server Status

• PC: 🟢 Online / Operational

  • Note: If you are on PC and cannot connect, the issue is on your end or related to a modder crashing your specific lobby (see fixes below).

• PlayStation 4: 🟡 Limited / Partial Outage

• Xbox One: 🟡 Limited / Partial Outage

• PS5 / Xbox Series X: 🟡 Limited (Since these consoles run the PS4/Xbox One versions of the app, they are affected by the same outage).

If you are on PC (and still can’t connect)

Since the PC servers are officially “Green,” you are likely hitting the infamous Error 0x20010006 or Error 0x40003002. These are “Peer-to-Peer” handshake failures, not server crashes.

Try these fixes immediately:

1. The “Lobby Switch” Trick:

   • Do not click “Free Roam” from the main menu.

   • Instead, select “Camp” or “Posse Up”. These options force the game to find a different server node than the overcrowded general Free Roam lobbies, often bypassing the error.

2. Clear Rockstar Launcher Cache:

   • Close the game and the launcher.

   • Delete the “Social Club” folder in your Documents folder (don’t worry, your save data is in the cloud).

   • Restart the launcher.

3. Modder Evasion:

   • If your game crashes to the desktop without an error code, a modder likely “bricked” your session. You must wait 5 minutes before logging back in to ensure the matchmaking system assigns you to a new pool of players.

If you are on Console (PS4/Xbox)

Since there is a “Partial Outage,” you might be able to log in but find that:

• The Store (Gold Bar purchases) is failing.

• Bounties won’t start when you interact with the board.

• Moonshine shacks are failing to load (the “infinite black screen” bug).

Recommendation:

Do not try to sell large Trader wagons or Moonshine deliveries right now. If the “Partial Outage” causes a disconnect mid-mission, you will lose your goods and the game will not refund them. Stick to Collector roles or Showdowns until the status turns Green.
