R6 Failed to Synchronize Data for Cross Platform | How to Fix

This specific error—“Failed to synchronize data for cross-platform”—is slightly different from the general connection error. It means your account is stuck trying to merge your PC, Xbox, and PlayStation data (your “Cross-Progression” profile) and the server is timing out.

Because of the recent hack, the servers are struggling to verify these merged profiles. Here are the fixes specifically for this Cross-Platform version of the error:

1. The “Unlink & Relink” Method (Most Effective Fix)

This forces the server to refresh your cross-platform profile.

  1. Go to the Ubisoft Account Management website on your phone or computer.

  2. Log in and go to the “Account Information” section.

  3. Scroll down to Linked Accounts.

  4. Unlink your console (Xbox/PlayStation) from your Ubisoft account.

  5. Wait 1 minute.

  6. Re-link it.

  7. Restart the game on your console/PC. This often clears the “stuck” sync.

2. Toggle Crossplay (If you can reach the menu)

If the game lets you into the Main Menu before the error pops up:

  1. Go to Options > General.

  2. Find Crossplay Matchmaking.

  3. Turn it OFF.

  4. Try to launch a “Training” or “Terrorist Hunt” match (anything offline or solo).

  5. If it loads, quit back to the menu and turn Crossplay ON again.

3. The “Cloud Save” Fix (PC Only)

If you are on PC, the “Cross-Platform” error is often just a Cloud Save conflict in disguise.

  1. Open Ubisoft Connect > Settings.

  2. Uncheck “Enable Cloud Save Synchronization.”

  3. Launch the game. (If it works, play one match to create a new local save).

  4. Close game, re-check the box, and launch again. Select “Local Save” when asked which file to keep.

4. “Spamming” the Retry Button

Since the servers are degraded (Jan 1, 2026), many users report that this is simply a traffic jam.

  • The Strategy: When the error pops up, click “OK” or “Retry.” Do this 10-15 times.

  • Why? The server is rejecting requests to save capacity. Eventually, one of your requests might slip through the queue.

Note:

If you are a returning player (haven’t played in months/years), this error is very common right now because your “old” save file format is clashing with the “new” post-hack security checks. The Unlink/Relink method (#1) is usually the best fix for this.
