A 502 Bad Gateway error in PUBG: Battlegrounds typically indicates a communication failure between your network and the game’s servers, or an issue on the game servers themselves.
Because this is a server-response error, do not reinstall the game yet. Instead, follow these steps in order.
1. The “Is It Just Me?” Check (Do This First)
Since “502” often means the server is down or overloaded, verify the official status before troubleshooting your own equipment.
Check PUBG Support on Twitter/X: They post immediate updates about maintenance or outages.
Check DownDetector: Look for a spike in reports.
Note: If the servers are down, you cannot fix this. You must wait for the developers to resolve it.
2. The “Silver Bullet” Fix: Change DNS Servers
If the servers are up, your internet provider’s DNS (phonebook for the internet) might be struggling to route you to PUBG. Changing to a public DNS often fixes 502 errors immediately.
For PC (Windows):
Press Windows Key + R, type
ncpa.cpl, and hit Enter.Right-click your active network adapter (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) and select Properties.
Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.
Select “Use the following DNS server addresses” and enter:
Preferred DNS:
8.8.8.8(Google) or1.1.1.1(Cloudflare)Alternate DNS:
8.8.4.4(Google) or1.0.0.1(Cloudflare)
Click OK and restart the game.
For Console (PlayStation/Xbox):
Go to Network Settings > Set Up Internet Connection.
Choose Manual setup.
Leave IP settings as Automatic.
For DNS, enter Primary:
8.8.8.8and Secondary:8.8.4.4.

3. Flush Your Network Cache (PC Only)
This clears out old connection data that might be causing the “Bad Gateway” loop.
Press the Windows Key, type
cmd.Right-click “Command Prompt” and select Run as Administrator.
Type the following commands one by one, pressing Enter after each:
ipconfig /releaseipconfig /renewipconfig /flushdns
Restart your router and try the game again.
4. Verify Game Files (Steam/Epic)
A corrupted configuration file can sometimes send bad requests to the server.
Steam: Right-click PUBG in your Library > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.
Epic Games: Click the three dots next to PUBG in your Library > Manage > Verify.
Summary of Quick Fixes
| Method | Why it works |
| Disable VPN/Proxy | VPNs introduce an extra “gateway” that often fails, causing the 502 error. Turn it off. |
| Allow in Firewall | Ensure TslGame.exe is allowed through Windows Defender Firewall. |
| Use Ethernet | Wi-Fi packet loss can sometimes be misinterpreted by the server as a bad gateway. |
