The “Profile Query Failed” error on PS5 is a common login issue that occurs when your console cannot sync your account data with Epic’s servers.
Since today is March 5, 2026, this is almost certainly related to the v39.51 update maintenance and the scheduled Epic Online Services (EOS) backend work happening right now (07:00 – 10:00 UTC).
Here is the fastest way to fix it on your PS5:
1. Perform a Full Power Cycle (Most Effective)
Simply putting the PS5 in Rest Mode won’t work. You need to clear the system’s temporary cache:

Completely Shut Down your PS5.

Unplug the power cable from the back of the console.

Wait at least 60 seconds.

Plug it back in and restart. This forces a fresh “handshake” with Epic’s servers.
2. Check for the v39.51 Update
If you haven’t downloaded the latest patch, the server will reject your profile query.

Highlight the Fortnite icon on your Home Screen.

Press the Options button on your controller.

Select Check for Update.
3. Change Your DNS Settings
Sometimes the default ISP DNS in India (like BSNL or Alliance) struggles to reach Epic’s login shards after an update.

Go to Settings > Network > Settings > Set Up Internet Connection.

Highlight your connection and press Options > Advanced Settings.

Change DNS Settings to Manual.

4. Restore Licenses
If the PS5 thinks you don’t “own” the game files (common with free-to-play titles after updates):

Epic Games officially reported “Degraded Performance” for login services during today’s maintenance window. If you’ve tried the power cycle and DNS change and it’s still failing, the issue is on Epic’s end. Usually, this clears up within 30-60 minutes after the maintenance window ends.
