When you choose your Pokémon teams for Pokémon Go’s Battle League, your choice will change based on the competition and what Pokémon you have at your disposal. For this guide, during September 2021, we will focus on a tier list for the Ultra League with Pokémon Go’s 9 meta season.
You can select only three Pokémon in your team. You can use any Pokémon for the Ultra League, as long as they do not exceed this 2,500 CP cap. You will choose a Lead, a Switch and a Closer for the team for your 3 Pokémon, each of them designed to defeat any opponents you face in the Battle League. Many of these Pokémon are going to have to use XL candy.

Lead Pokémon will be the first you use in a battle with your team. They want to be a bulky option, able to stand alone in a battle, but they may rely on one shield.
These are the choices made by Pokémon, that you want enough bulk in a fight but they also want a proper level of attack power to kill the majority of Pokémon they face. The lower their weaknesses, the better they will be. Don’t be scared about using at least one shield.

The Switch Pokémon is your roster choice to switch between countering your lead Pokémon or fighting one of their weaknesses. You want your Switch Pokémon in your team to be treated as a glass channel that can defeat any Pokémon you face.
