On February 27, 2023, Tsunekazu Ishihara, the president and CEO of The Pokémon Company, hosted a special Pokémon Day Pokémon Presents. During this presentation, Mr. Ishihara revealed new information about Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, including the announcement of the upcoming DLC, entitled The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero.

There was also more news about Pokémon SleepPokémon GO, the Pokémon Trading Card Game, Pokémon Masters EXPokémon UNITE, and Pokémon Café ReMix. Additionally, we learned about Pokémon Concierge, a new animated series. Finally, the Pokémon Presents wouldn’t have been complete without news of the 2023 Pokémon World Championships, and Chris Brown, director of global esports and events producer at The Pokémon Company International, provided details about the exciting event that will be held in Japan for the first time from August 11–13.

You can rewatch the Pokémon Presents above and check out this wrap-up to find out what was shown.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet

Fans who have been exploring the Paldea region in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet have more fun in store now that a pair of new Paradox Pokémon are appearing in Tera Raid Battles. Pokémon Scarlet players will encounter the Water- and Dragon-type Pokémon Walking Wake, while those playing Pokémon Violet will find the Grass- and Psychic-type Pokémon Iron Leaves. You can catch these Pokémon in Tera Raid Battles now.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet can now also connect with Pokémon GO, allowing you to send Postcards from the mobile game to the Nintendo Switch titles. The Postcards’ location data will affect the pattern of Vivillon that appear in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. Sending Postcards also opens up the opportunity to catch Roaming Form Gimmighoul in Pokémon GO. When Pokémon HOME support is added to Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet early this year, you’ll be able to bring the Roaming Form Gimmighoul that you’ve caught in Pokémon GO into your Paldean adventure.

The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero

That wasn’t the only Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet news. It was revealed that DLC, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, is coming in two parts later this year. Part 1: The Teal Mask has you visiting the land of Kitakami on a school trip and will be released in fall 2023. Part 2: The Indigo Disk will see you become an exchange student at Blueberry Academy and is slated for winter 2023. During these adventures, you’ll encounter some familiar Pokémon that you hadn’t seen in Paldea, as well as the newly discovered Legendary Pokémon, Ogerpon and Terapagos.

You can purchase the version of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero that matches your game version now on Nintendo eShop. When you do, you’ll get the New Uniform Set to give your character some new outfits, and as an early-purchase bonus, you’ll receive a code that allows you to claim a special Hisuian Zoroark for your in-game team.

Pokémon Sleep

We were also treated to a look at the long-awaited Pokémon Sleep, which is coming later this year. In this game, you work together with Professor Neroli and Snorlax to research the way Pokémon sleep, and to do so, all you need to do is get a good night’s sleep. By leaving your smartphone by your pillow when you go to bed, your sleep will be measured and analyzed. Your sleep will be categorized into one of three “sleep types,” and Pokémon that sleep in similar ways will gather around Snorlax.

To aid in your research, the new Pokémon GO Plus + accessory can be used with Pokémon Sleep. This handy device operates with the push of a button, and it can measure your sleep data when it’s placed by your pillow. There’s also a Pikachu within the Pokémon GO Plus + that can sing lullabies for you. The more sleep you get together, the friendlier this Pikachu will become—you can even unlock new alarm sounds as your bond grows.

Pokémon Sleep is planned to launch in summer 2023, and the Pokémon GO Plus + is scheduled to release on July 14, 2023. You’ll enjoy waking up each day to see which Pokémon sleep styles you can discover.

Pokémon GO

The Pokémon GO Plus + will also enhance your Pokémon GO game. Using the device allows you to automatically spin PokéStops and throw Poké Balls at Pokémon without having to pull out your smartphone. By linking your Pokémon GO Plus + to Pokémon GO, you’ll also get access to Special Research leading to an encounter with a Snorlax wearing a nightcap. And stay tuned—there are plans to add new features to Pokémon GO that will incorporate the sleep data recorded by the Pokémon GO Plus + device!
