Incentive to the Beneficiaries

Under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), beneficiaries receive a cash incentive of ₹5000 in three installments for the birth of their first living child. This is intended to provide partial compensation for wage loss so that the woman can take adequate rest before and after delivery.

The installments are disbursed as follows:

1st Installment: ₹1000 on early registration of pregnancy at the Anganwadi Centre (AWC) or approved Health facility.

2nd Installment: ₹2000 after six months of pregnancy on receiving at least one ante-natal check-up (ANC) and registration of the child birth

3rd Installment: ₹2000 after the child has received the first cycle of vaccinations

In addition to this, beneficiaries are also entitled to receive the cash incentive under the Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) after institutional delivery. This brings the total benefit to an average of ₹6000 for the first child

Important Note: The maternity benefit under PMMVY is only available for the first child, unless the second child is a girl. In that case, the benefit of ₹6000 will be provided in one installment after the birth of the second girl child.
