myIR Login Online Login NZ : How do I give access to my IRD account?
You can update account access and permission levels for other myIR logons in your business if you have one of the following logons- owner, administrator, restricted administrator.
You’ll only be able to access another account if you have an existing relationship with it showing in myIR. It’s usually there if you’re a director of a company, trustee of a trust, partner in a partnership, or nominated to act on someone else’s behalf.
Linking to an associated account only lets you see the person or entity’s myIR information. It does not mean they can see your myIR account.
Manage account access for an existing logon in myIR
You can update account access and permission levels for other myIR logons in your business if you have one of the following logons:
- owner
- administrator
- restricted administrator
1. Go to ‘Manage my profile’
2. Select the ‘I want to…’ tab
3. Select ‘Manage third party access’
4. Select the logon you want to update access for
5. Select ‘Change access role’ to change the level of access a logon has
A list of access roles are able to be selected. You can choose from the following roles.
- Administrator –Â Can access any accounts the owner grants access to. They can also create logons for users and administrators and access customer level mail.
- Restricted administrator –Â Can access any accounts the owner grants access to. They can also create logons for users and administrators. Restricted administrators cannot access customer level mail.
- Users – can only access accounts that an owner or administrator grants access to. Users can’t access customer level mail but can view account-specific notices and letters
- Restricted users – Are the same as users, but they can only submit account-level requests. Restricted users who are also Tax Preparers can’t link or delink customers, or make financial transfers
6. Select ‘Manage account access’ to grant or change access for the account
Set account access
A list of all active accounts will display where you can either grant or cancel access. Only accounts you have access to with your logon will display.
When granting access to a new account you need to choose the level of permission you’d like the logon to have. There are 4 permission levels (a description of each permission level is in myIR).
- Full account access.
- Make payments.
- File.
- Read only.
Save the changes.
What happens next
The person you created the logon for gets a logon access email.
They’ll have 30 minutes to follow the link in the email and set up a password for the myIR account.
Once they’ve done this they can go on and access the myIR account.
If you need to re-send the logon access email, select the ‘Resend logon access email’ link in the right-hand side of the additional logons screen in myIR. This link will only appear if the person with the new logon has not set a password and logged in.
What you can do in myIR
Once you’re registered, you can:
- manage all your accounts, including Working for Families and child support
- manage your two-step verification settings
- manage access and logons for you or someone else
- update contact details for you or your organisation
- add or change your bank account details
- make payments, including direct debit and setting regular direct debits
- track refunds
- file tax returns
- check payments and return information (from 2015 onwards)
- receive correspondence and notifications from us
- send and receive secure web messages
- upload and send documents
- check, update and print confirmation of your income
Use two-step verification in myIR
Once you’ve set up your myIR profile, you can choose to strengthen security by using two-step verification.
When logging into myIR with two-step verification, you will need to provide a unique security code to verify your identify.
You can receive security codes by email or an authenticator app on your mobile device.
Registering and acting on behalf of someone else
If you’re a parent or legal guardian living with a child under 16, you can register a myIR account for your child. But if your child is over 16, you cannot register on their behalf.
If someone wants you to be their nominated person and act on their behalf, you can access their account details through your own myIR logon. You will have to be set up as a nominated person before you can do this.
