Miami Dolphins • Jaelan Phillips • Connor Williams • New York Giants

While Miami Dolphins centre Connor Williams was available again on Sunday against the New York Giants, outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips was not.

Williams has returned to starting centre despite suffering a groyne injury that forced him to miss last week’s 48-20 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Phillips was announced as one of the Dolphins’ inactives 90 minutes before kickoff; he had previously missed the Bills game with an oblique strain and the Sept. 17 triumph over the New England Patriots with a back issue.

After a week of light practise, Phillips announced on Friday that his playing status would be decided on Sunday.

Saquon Barkley, the Giants’ starting running back, did not play in today’s game.

Barkley had been labelled as questionable for Sunday’s game due to a high ankle sprain, but he will need another week to fully recuperate. He missed the Giants’ dismal 24-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night.

Already on Sunday, the New York offence was missing three starters at the line of scrimmage: left tackle Andrew Thomas (hamstring), centre John Michael Schmitz (shoulder) and guard Shane Lemieux (groyne). That’s not bad for a unit that gave up 11 sacks against Seattle.

Micah McFadden, a linebacker with the Giants, was sidelined with an ankle injury. Gervarrius Owens (safety) and Jordon Riley (defensive lineman) were both healthy scratched.
