The “You don’t have permission to access on this server” error (often a 403 Forbidden error) usually means McAfee’s security systems are blocking your connection.
Ironically, this is most often caused by a VPN or a corrupt browser cookie.
Here are the steps to fix it, in order of likelihood:
1. Turn Off Your VPN (Most Likely Cause)
McAfee’s website frequently blocks traffic from VPNsāeven its own.
Fix: If you have a VPN running (NordVPN, ExpressVPN, or even McAfee’s own Safe Connect VPN), turn it OFF.
Note: If you are already using McAfee software, open the main dashboard and ensure the “Secure VPN” tile is set to Disconnected before trying to log in to the website.
2. Use “Incognito” or “Private” Mode
Your browser might be holding a corrupt “session token” that the server is rejecting.
Fix: Open a new Incognito (Chrome) or InPrivate (Edge) window (
Ctrl + Shift + Nusually works for both).Test: Go to
mcafee.com/loginin that window. If it works, the issue is your browser cache.

3. Clear Browser Cache
If Incognito mode worked, you need to clear your main browser’s data to fix it permanently.
Chrome/Edge: Press
Ctrl+Shift+Delete.Select: “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files.”
Action: Click Clear data.
4. Check Your System Clock
Security certificates (SSL) will fail if your computer’s clock is wrong, causing the server to reject you.
Fix: Check the time in the bottom right corner. If it is incorrect, right-click it -> “Adjust date/time” -> Toggle “Set time automatically” to On.
5. Switch Connections (IP Block)
Your specific IP address might have been flagged as “suspicious” by their server.
Fix: Disconnect your computer from your home Wi-Fi and connect to your phone’s mobile hotspot.
Why: This gives you a new IP address. If the site loads now, your home IP was temporarily blacklisted.
