Marvel Rivals Failed To Connect To Server | Maintenance Check Status

High Probability Cause: Server Maintenance (Season 5.5 Update) Since today is December 12, 2025, you are likely seeing this error because the servers are offline (or struggling) for the Season 5.5 “Rogue” Update.

Developers (NetEase) scheduled downtime for today to roll out the new patch. Even if maintenance is officially “over,” servers often struggle with high traffic immediately after they come back online.

Step 1: Check Server Status (Do this first)

Before changing any settings, verify if the game is down for everyone.

  • Official X (Twitter): Check @MarvelRivals for “Maintenance Complete” posts.

  • Discord: Look at the #announcements or #server-status channels in the official Marvel Rivals Discord.

  • Steam/Epic Update: Ensure your game has actually downloaded the new update. If the server version doesn’t match your client version, you will get a “Failed to Connect” error.

Step 2: Fixes if Servers are ONLINE

If the servers are confirmed green/online and you still cannot connect, try these steps in order:

1. Force an Update (Steam/Epic/Console)

  • Sometimes the launcher doesn’t catch the update automatically.

  • Steam: Restart Steam entirely. Right-click Marvel Rivals > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.

  • Epic: Click the three dots next to the game > Manage > Verify.

  • PS5/Xbox: Highlight the game on the dashboard, press Options/Menu, and select “Check for Update.”

2. Flush Your DNS (PC)

Network conflicts often happen after patches.

  • Open Command Prompt (search cmd in Windows).

  • Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.

  • Restart your router.

3. Bypass “Error Code 10” or “Error Code 4”

These are common handshake errors.

  • Change DNS: Go to your Network Settings and change your DNS server to Google (Primary: 8.8.8.8, Secondary: 8.8.4.4) or Cloudflare (1.1.1.1).

  • Disable IPv6: Some players report stability returns if you disable IPv6 in your network adapter settings.

4. Firewall/Antivirus Whitelist

New updates can sometimes trigger false positives in antivirus software (like Norton or Windows Defender), blocking the connection.

  • Add MarvelRivals.exe to your antivirus exception list.
