1. To activate your card, simply call the number shown on the sticker on the front of your card or use it at any M&T ATM, including former People’s United ATMs.

2. Once the card is activated, remove the sticker and sign the signature panel on the back of the card.

3. Then, destroy your old People’s United Bank Debit Card.

How do I enroll in M&T Alerts?

If you are an M&T Online Banking customer, you may enroll in alerts by logging into your Online Banking account and navigating to M&T Bank Alerts in the Services menu. You may also enroll by logging into the M&T Mobile Banking app and choosing Alerts from the Menu icon on the top left.

How do I register my phone to receive text alerts?

​You may register up to two phone numbers by logging in to Online or Mobile Banking and navigating to M&T Alerts from the Menu. Once you have activated your phone number(s), you may enroll in M&T Alerts to be delivered by text message.
​If you are unable to access Online or Mobile Banking and need to unlock your card, please call M&T Customer Service at 1-800-724-2440 for assistance.
​Locking your card is only available through Online or Mobile Banking. If you need to report your card as lost or stolen you can Log in to Online Banking or call M&T Customer Service at 1-800-724-1552, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week or visit your local branch for assistance.

How do I lock or unlock my M&T card?

To temporarily lock your M&T Credit or Debit Card:
  • Log into Online Banking and select Temporarily Lock/Unlock a Card from the Services Menu.
  • Log into the M&T Mobile App, select Card Services from the Menu, and select Temporarily Lock/Unlock a Card.

When you’re ready, you can unlock your card from the same menu to begin using it again right away.
