Jackbox TV Join Code : How do I activate my Steam code purchase?
Players can join the lobby room by visiting jackboxgames.tv using the room code on the host’s screen. Your viewers can join with a code and participate in the game.
So you’ve just purchased a Steam code from our website… now what? This guide will help you navigate the process of installing Steam to your computer and activating your purchase within Steam. You can also check out our how to video on Youtube for a visual walkthrough of the process.

STEP-1: ON YOUR COMPUTER / LAPTOP
Be sure to click on the Zoom link given to you by the librarian to watch the main screen of the game. You will also need this to interact with other players. This is the social distance equivalent to playing in person with a TV screen running. Do not Zoom from the mobile device you are going to play on! It has to be on a laptop or computer screen. 
STEP-2: On YOUR MOBILE DEVICE
- Visit the following link on your mobile device: http://jackbox.tv
- Enter the four-letter game room code you see on the computer screen into your device, as well as your name in the name space. PLEASE NOTE: The illustration below is just an example room code. Our room code will be different for each game, each time.
STEP-3: Wait for further instructions on the main screen and have a good time!
What is Steam?
Steam is a free to download computer application that helps organize digital game content, like a game library. It is available for free on Windows, Mac, and Linux desktop and laptop computers. You can download it from the Steam website here.
Please keep in mind the Steam version of the game will only work on a computer with the Steam application installed on it. Steam does have some apps available on mobile platforms, but these apps cannot be used to install your game. If you activate your code via your Steam Wallet in mobile or browser, you will still need Steam on your computer to run the game.
How do I create a Steam account?
Once downloaded, you can launch the Steam program and create a Steam account. For any issues you encounter while creating a Steam account, please contact Steam support directly here: Steam’s support site. Please note that Steam is a third-party application, and therefore we cannot directly assist you with account creation or recovery.
How do I activate my Steam code?
Once you’ve created your account you will be able to log in to Steam with that information and activate your Steam code.
You should have received this code in an email from Jackbox Games shortly after your purchase completed.

- Select the Game Menu > Activate a Product on Steam (you can also select this directly in “Add A Game” on the Library screen of the application’s bottom left if this does not appear)

You will see a pop up. On the next two buttons select “Next” and “I Agree” to the Terms and conditions.
- You will then reach the ‘Product Code’ box pictured below. Your product key will probably follow the format ABCDE-ABCDE-ABCDE.
- Enter the code you received in the email from your Jackbox Games purchase and click next. Once you’ve activated your product key you will see it appear in the Library Tab (In between Store and Community). Games will show slightly gray before they are installed.
Select the game to highlight it and click the blue Install button. Once the game is finished installing, click finish and you will notice the button that once read install now reads play. Click this to launch the game.

Playing With Friends
If you feel confident about you and your fellow players’ internet connections, just hop on a videoconferencing service (like Zoom or Google Hangouts; see more details at the end of this article!). Start a game on your laptop and use the screen sharing option so that players you’re on a call with can see the game. Everyone can play along on their own mobile devices by using a browser and going to Jackbox.tv.
If you’re a Steam fan, you can skip the videoconferencing step and use Steam Remote Play Together. This feature allows you to share your local co-op games online with friends. Using Remote Play Together, only one person needs to own a copy of a Jackbox Games title. Up to four players (or more with faster internet connections) can join.
Discord screen sharing can also be a great option if you’re playing on a laptop. You and up to nine of your Discord friends can connect and have both the game and video enabled. You’ll want to see your friend’s face when they’re lying about being an alien in Push The Button. There is more about Discord further down.
Some consoles also have screen share or co-stream abilities as long as you’re playing with someone who also owns that platform. For example, PS4 also has the ability to share screens with your friends.
When sharing these ways, we recommend wired internet connections when possible!
