As on February 19, 2026, Zelle is generally operational. Official status monitors and real-time user reports indicate that the core network is up and running.
Why you might be seeing “Down” or “Error” messages:
The Standalone App is Gone: As of April 2025, Zelle officially discontinued its standalone mobile app. If you are trying to log into the old app, it will not work. You must now use Zelle directly through a supported U.S. bank’s mobile app.
Bank-Specific Glitches: Sometimes Zelle is “up,” but your specific bank’s connection to it is “down.” Users have recently reported intermittent “freezing” or “maintenance” messages with banks like TD Bank and Wells Fargo.
Location/VPN Issues: If you are using a VPN or trying to access it from an Indian IP address, your bank’s security system might block the connection, triggering a generic “Service Unavailable” error.
📍 Notes & Past Outages
In the past, Zelle has had outages that temporarily affected sending/receiving money for some users at certain banks. Those have ranged from under an hour to a few hours before being resolved.
Also worth knowing: the standalone Zelle app was discontinued as of April 1 2025 — now most users access Zelle through their bank’s own app or online banking.
Quick Checklist if it’s not working for you:
Check your Bank’s App: If you can’t find Zelle, check your bank’s “Send Money” or “Pay & Transfer” section.
Toggle Wi-Fi/Data: Occasionally, local network lag in Kerala can cause the transaction to time out.
Account Enrollment: Ensure your U.S. mobile number or email is still active and linked to your bank account.

🛠 If You’re Experiencing Issues
Even though Zelle is not widely down, you might still get errors due to one of these common causes:
✔ Network or internet issues
✔ Bank-specific problems (some banks process transfers differently)
✔ Pending transaction delays (can take longer if recipient isn’t enrolled or it’s outside business hours)
