Checking the Sea IGM (Import General Manifest) status on ICEGATE is a critical step for importers to know if their cargo details have been filed with Indian Customs, which allows them to file the Bill of Entry (BOE).

  1. Go to the Enquiry Page: Click the link above or navigate to ICEGATE Website > Public Enquiry > Tracking at ICES > Sea IGM.

  2. Select Location: Choose the port code from the dropdown menu.

    • Tip: The list is long. Type the first few letters of the city to find it faster. (See common codes below).

  3. Enter Master BL No: Type your Master Bill of Lading number carefully.

    • Crucial: Do not use the “House BL” number here. It must be the Master BL provided by the shipping line (Main Line Operator).

  4. Enter Captcha & Submit: Type the characters shown in the image and click “Submit”.

5. Troubleshooting Common Errors

  • Error: “Record Not Found”

    • Cause 1: The shipping line hasn’t filed the IGM yet. (IGM is usually filed 24-48 hours before the vessel arrives).

    • Cause 2: You entered the House BL instead of the Master BL. Check your documents; the Master BL usually follows a format like MAEU123456789 or COSU123456789.

    • Cause 3: You selected the wrong Port Location. (e.g., selecting “Mumbai Sea” instead of “Nhava Sheva”).

  • Error: “Invalid Captcha”

    • ICEGATE captchas are case-sensitive. Ensure your Caps Lock is off/on as needed.

  • Error: System hanging or timeout

    • ICEGATE is often slow during peak business hours (11:00 AM – 4:00 PM IST). Try accessing it early in the morning or late evening.
